How Long Does it Take to Feel Effects of CBD Oil?
- All About CBD
When it comes to taking CBD, the time between first taking and feeling the effects of CBD may be a matter of minutes, to a matter of weeks or months. That length of time mostly depends on the individual and their body’s unique response to the compound. Other factors include the method you choose to take CBD, the bioavailability of that preferred method, and the size of your dosage. There are also a few things you should know about monitoring your body’s response, and what you should do if you don’t feel the effects.
CBD Bioavailability and Absorption Rates
The rate at which your bloodstream absorbs medicine or certain compounds is known as bioavailability. This is unique to each individual, making your response to a compound hard to calculate. However, the time that it takes for CBD to be absorbed and start circulating through your body are better known, and are different for each method of taking CBD. These absorption rates are as follows:
- Inhalation. Approximately 10-20 minutes
- Oral (edibles, capsules). Approximately 20-30 minutes
- Sublingual (oils). Approximately 15-25 minutes
- Topical (salves, lotions). Approximately 25-45 minutes
Tracking your CBD Benefits and Finding the Right Dosage
Each person processes CBD uniquely, so finding the right dosage and delivery method is important. Keeping a journal or notes can help you track. Please read our blog post titled 3 Tips for CBD Dosing to learn how journaling can assist with monitoring dosages and effectiveness.
What to do if You Do Not Feel the Effects of CBD?
If you have been taking CBD for a few months without seeing any results consider switching brands, increasing dosage, or switching your routes of consumption.
