Can Hemp Get You High?

Very simply…No!

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is the main cannabinoid in hemp. CBD is also present in cannabis and marijuana. So if you are wondering can hemp get you high? The answer is a no way man!

Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is the most well-known cannabinoid. THC is famous for its psychoactive properties, which create a “high”. In order to be legal in the United States, CBD oil can contain no more than 0.3% of THC. This very small amount of THC is nowhere near enough to create a high.

CBD vs. THC: What’s the difference?

Cannabidiol is a nonintoxicating, non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a psychoactive and intoxicating, so it creates a wave of euphoria and an altered mental status. CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, however, CBD doesn’t have psychoactive effects on the mind.

Hemp vs. Marijuana

Both are members of the cannabis species and contain cannabinoids. Yet the amounts of these cannabinoids are very distinct.

Hemp is a member of the Cannabis sativa species. The plant itself cannot be used as a recreational drug. It is really low in the psychoactive compound THC (only 0.3%). This low amount is not near enough to create a “high”.

On the other hand, marijuana has much higher doses of THC. The large amounts of THC create an intoxicating and psychoactive effect. Marijuana can contain between 5-20% THC!

Comparing the two, it is impossible to get high using hemp!

If you are concerned about the THC being present in your CBD products, Kentucky’s Best Hemp offers a THC free oil.
